Your Forex Broker

A broker is a person or a group of people that sells and buys orders based on the decision of the traders. Brokers benefit from this service through a commission or fee from the bid/ask spread.

There are a lot of services that brokers offer their trader clients. Sometimes you will be confused on who to choose as your broker. There are factors that you need to consider in choosing the right broker.

First, know which regulatory agencies the brokers are registered with. Your broker must be fully registered to ensure legitimacy.

You can verify the broker you have chosen from the CFTC or the Commodity Futures Trading Commission if the broker is registered or not.

Your broker must be available 24 hours a day since the Forex market is open 24 hours as well. You should have an access with your broker through email, chat or by phone. Your broker should be knowledgeable about the Forex market and all about trading business.

A good broker should be able to respond to their clients inquiries as quickly as possible. They should of course display a good reputation to earn your trust.

A good broker should have a good trading platform as well.

In the beginning your broker should have shown you their layout; a good layout for their trading platform will be the backbone of your trading business.

The following is an example of a broker's layout:

1. Your broker's ability to view in real-time the currency exchange rate quotes.

2. Your broker should have an account summarization that shows your current balance from your account with the realized and the unrealized loss and profit, the margin available as well as the margin locked in an open position.

Some of the broker's trading platforms are either based on the Web, which is in Java, or based in a client program. If it is a client program you can install it on your computer for further verification.

3. Software that is web-based is hosted on the website of your broker. If this is the case, you do not have to install it on your computer. All you have to do is to log in to your computer to your broker's website.

The client-based software is the one that is usually faster to run than the web-based software. So if at all possible choose this type of program to manage your Forex account.
